In
1958 Yves Boisgontier, while on a cycling holiday, discovered Briançonnet.Establishing
contact with some of the old folk, he bought an abandoned property : Le Haut
Chandelalar. This period corresponded with the decline in population of the
Pré-alpes grassoises to the advantage of the Côte d`Azur.Briançonnet ( Brogomagus
in former times) created by the Romans of whom one finds many vestiges, was until
the end of the 19 Cent. an important centre on one of the few routes east/west
of the massif. |  |

In 1974 Yves and Paulette established the naturist centre as well as cultivating the land, as is still done, growing raspberries, blackcurrants and gooseberries. In 1980 due to family problems, Paulette took on the responsibility of running it until the end of1992 when Muriel and Yves took over the direction after much building work and modernisation to put matters in order. Le Haut Chandelalar is situated in the heart of a region of mountains of middling altitude, rich in historical sites (fortified villages), geographical interest (the mountain passes, the Gorges du Verdon, the Parc du Mercantour) and cultural interest (Grasse, Nice, Monaco) |
