full of history. Its historical capital, Minerve, squatting on the promontory between the Gorges de la Cesse and those of the Brian since its siege in 1210 by the troops of Simon de Montfort, is one of the widely known places of `catharisme`.
At HOMPS the Canal du Midi, listed in the world`heritage, flows to the South towards NARBONNE and its beaches.

Minervois also means long rambles in the garrigue carpeted with thyme and lavender in search of wild orchids.
