Within Picardy and with easy access to Paris,
the VALOIS can indeed be proud of being
the cradle of French history.
The royal dynasty descended from this branch
has bestowed on our country more
than a dozen kings and contributed
greatly to the unity of France.

With its abbeys,
cathedrals
and châteaux still very much in evidence today,
the Valois
"
that old region where for more than a thousand years has beaten the heart of France"
(Gérard de Nerval)
displays to each visitor the proof of its historical past
of which it can be justly proud.
A highly agricultural region (cereals, root and green vegetables) the extensive forest area of 20,000 hectares inclusive of the forests of Chantilly, Halatte , Compiègne and Ermonville provide vast reserves and hunting areas.
Within these highly impressive spaces well signed short walks and paths for nature study are greatly appreciated
by lovers of nature.
Its proximity to Paris allows everyone to explore this city of light, the capital of France, so full of life and loved by tourists. In lighter and more playful vein the Parc Astérix or that of Disneyland, both not far from the Centre, offer an alternative, certainly less rural, but appreciated by a number of tourists.
