CULTURE :

With its wealth of architecture, thousand years of old traditions and the variety of its countryside the heritage of the region of le Valois offers an environment suitable for every form of cultural activity. From churches and abbeys to attending the occasion of the 35 bell towers of the autumn valley during the second and third weekends of September (in years of even dates) all these contribute to the welcome offered to those interested and to walkers or hikers. (Crépy-en-Valois, Vez, Morienval, Orrouy, Saintines, Chaalis etc….)

Well directed walks of an educational nature introduce one to botany or the discovery
of the numerous local legends.
On a more modest but but equally fascinating
is the discovery of the miniature gardens
which recreate the countryside :

- château de Versigny attributed to Mr. Le Notre.
- The garden of Jean-Jacques Rousseau of Ermonville.

Museum and Château : Chantilly famous not only for its château but also for the Museum of Condé ( after the Louvre the richest in France for the number and quality of its exhibits) and also the unique horse museum. (Here one sees living specimens of the various breeds of horse and how they are adapted for specialised activities.)

And in addition Pierrefonds (the château of `the Sleeping Beauty`), Raray (the château featured in `the Beauty and the Beast`) Compiègne etc ….
A thousand years of old customs :
The archers of Valois under the command of the King of France have bequeathed
a strong tradition in the pracice of this sport the history of which discipline
the Museum of Valois de Crépy en Valois retraces in a delightful manner.
